venessa and zack

Venessa and Zack were wed on a beautiful Sunday at a great venue, Lake Eden in Black Mountain, NC. The backdrop was fantastic as were Venessa and Zack... It was truly a laid-back, relaxed day as everyone enjoyed themselves.

Here are a couple of shots from the day...

I had a little fun with this one in photoshop :)

jill and jonathan

We had a great time last weekend with Jill and Jonathan as they ties the knot... They planned such an amazing weekend with outdoor activities, hammocks in the shade, an ice cream truck for the kids (2-82 yrs. old :) ), and of course a fantastic wedding. Here are a couple of shots from their day.

Thank you guys for such a great day!

Jocelyn and Billy

We've been so busy lately that we've gotten a little behind on posting :) We had a great time a couple of weeks ago with Jocelyn and Billy up at Grandfather Mountain. They're an awesome couple who will be married later this year. We're really looking forward to capturing their day, but in the meantime, here's few shots shot from their engagement shoot. As well, you can click here for their slideshow.

Destination -- Isle of Palms

Janna and Joey were wed this weekend and we had the honor of recording it. It threatened to rain all day, but not a drop :) Here are a few images from the day or click here for a slideshow of this beautiful wedding.

By the way, this was our first wedding at Boone Hall Plantation and we definitely want to shoot it again--it rocks!

Everyday beauty...

So we were driving back from Birmingham and as you come into Georgia on 20, there is a pulpwood plant with a large grove of trees out front. Smokestacks in the background pumping out black smoke with this beautiful setting in front got me thinking about the beauty that surrounds the mundane... everyday, I pass by beauty in many forms without giving a second thought... A child on the playground, a leaf lying in a puddle, the shadows from a row of trees, etc. are moments to be captured in our mind's eye for their beauty, innocence, uniqueness, vibrance, and I could go on... Jen and I are very blessed to live in these beautiful NC mountains, but how often do I really pause to recognize the beauty in God's creation? Sad to say, not very often... Most of the time, I am too "busy" to stop and recognize a moment of beauty.

So here goes, I really want to make a conscientious effort to capture (rather in camera or in my mind's eye) beauty of all kinds. It is easy to see at weddings and portrait shoots as their is interaction between people. However, I want to also be mindful of the pleasing aesthetic at the grocery store or in the mountains or on the freeway. There is eye candy everywhere if we keep our eye's open for it.

I'll start this post with a few images and would love to hear from you your thoughts. As well, if you have taken any shots of beautiful moments or colors or flowers or people, please email me a shot and I'll post it on the blog after we get a few.. Hopefully, at the very least, we'll begin to pause and enjoy what's around us instead of only looking at what's ahead of us..

Here are a couple from the side of ga20 coming into Rome, GA on Sunday. The last is from a farm in Winston-Salem last weekend..

Sarah and Rob

We traveled to Birmingham, AL this past weekend to meet up with Sarah and Rob. Regardless of the forecast, the weather was perfect for a gorgeous wedding! Thank you guys for everything!
